Top Font Tips and Tricks

1. Outlining and Shadowing.

AG I WOKE UP LIKE THIS
AG WILL THERE BE SNACKS

In the word dolly you can see I shadowed two different fonts together. In pages there is a function with a gear that you lets you add an outline to a font. I included a video below to help find this function. I just found this function and I am using it all the time! You can do this on keynote also.

2. Ombre Fonts

AG FOOD BABY

Change the font so the colors of each letter is lighter than the first. This adds an ombre effect that spices any design up! I use the shade function on the font circle and adjusts as I go.

3. Using Shadows on Text

OH HEY CARRIE MIRANDA
AG FOOD BABE

I add shadows a lot when I’m designing but sometimes forget to do it with text. Above you can see I added the shadow effect to both texts. If you are using pages go to Style then Drop Shadow and there you go!

4. Place Transparent Shapes Behind

OH HEY CAKE BATTER
AG SORRY NOT SORRY

I added a rectangle behind each of the fonts. You can do a lot with shapes on pages. There are borders and lines you can add which provide a different effect. One of my favorite things is to use the shapes and add the transparent function to them.

5. Two Fonts Together

OH HEY CARRIE MIRANDA
AG JOY OF MISSING OUT SOLID

I don’t do this a lot but love the look of it. Use a large bold font an a very skinny font together and place them on top of each other. When you use the shadow effect it also helps add a dramatic element to the font pairing.

6. Use Images on Pages behind Fonts

AG FLUENT IN SARCASM MONOLINE
AG BOSS LADY

There are a lot of images in pages that you can use and recolor when designing. You can add shadows, outline them, and change the color of any of the images. I use this feature a lot because many times the clip art I find is not the right color.
